What if your next opportunity is actually hiding in plain sight?

Last month we spent a week in Copenhagen. Galleries, museums, architecture, design, and plenty of time to wander and notice things. We came back full of ideas and wanted to share some of them with you.💡

So, this issue brings together the places, experiences and ideas that caught our attention while we were away. From an underground reservoir turned art space to a power plant with a ski slope on the roof ⛷ we kept finding ourselves drawn to the same question: What else could this be?

It’s a useful one for us as business owners too. A prompt to think differently about the services we offer, the spaces we use, the experiences we create, and the opportunities that might be hiding in plain sight.

We hope something here inspires you to look at your own work a little differently 👀.

What's caught our attention...

What We Noticed in Copenhagen

One thing kept catching our attention in Copenhagen: almost nothing seemed content with doing just one job.

Cisternerne, a former drinking water reservoir transformed into an underground art space, felt like the perfect example. Again and again, we came across places that had been reimagined, repurposed or given an entirely new role.

What got us wasn’t how big or bold these ideas were, even though they absolutely are. It was how practical they felt. Everywhere we looked, creative thinking was right there making everyday life a bit better for the people around it.

A waste-to-energy plant that doubles as a ski slope, hiking trail and viewpoint. A perfect example of Copenhagen’s habit of asking, “What else could this be?” We took the lift up and the steps back down.

A playground on top, a car park underneath. A simple but ingenious example of how existing spaces can be reimagined to create something more useful, enjoyable and valuable.

Coppenhill and Konditaget

A former shipyard transformed into one of Copenhagen’s most creative districts. Street food, art galleries, live events and even a world-renowned restaurant all sit alongside each other on the waterfront. 

BLOX is home to Denmark’s Architecture Centre, but our favourite feature was the slide that takes you from the top floor to the bottom. A small detail, perhaps, but another example of Copenhagen finding ways to make everyday experiences a little more fun.

More than anything, these places showed us what can happen when creativity and innovation are applied to everyday life.

What else could this be?

If a reservoir can become an art space and a power station can become a ski slope, what in your business could serve more than one purpose? 

✨ Could a client presentation form the basis of a talk?

✨ Could your office become an event space one evening a month?

✨ Could a supplier relationship become
a collaboration?

✨ Could a waiting room become an educational space? 

✨ Could a spare hour become a mentoring session?

Chances are you already have something that could create value in a completely different way. What potential do you see?

What’s inspired us...

How Japan made the poster an art form of its own

Whilst at the Danish Design Museum, we were inspired by this bold exhibition on post-war poster design.

Rich colour, layers of detail and a real sense of playfulness. Decades old, yet somehow still feeling fresh, energetic and full of life.

Nobody else was making work that looked like this. There’s a confidence to it, a willingness to do things differently.

We felt lucky to stumble across it. Graphic design exhibitions are a rare treat.

One of the things Copenhagen reminded us is that opportunities can often be found by looking at something familiar in a different way.

How brands communicate before a word is read

This issue, we’ve been thinking about visual storytelling and how brands communicate before a word is read, and how quickly that influences perception.

What's caught our attention...

How heritage can feel alive again

The Royal Albert Hall rebrand by Brandpie caught our attention as a strong example of what happens when one idea is carried through consistently.

It starts with the building itself. Its distinctive dome, arches and architectural details. These elements become the backbone of the identity, with the masthead wrapping around the form to bring the name and the place together.

What stood out to us is how clearly everything connects back to that single idea. Nothing feels added on. Every element has a reason to be there.

It’s something we’ve found ourselves coming back to in our own work. When there’s one strong idea at the centre, decisions become simpler and the outcome feels more confident.

The typography draws from its Victorian roots, while the photography and motion bring it up to date. It holds both a sense of heritage and relevance.

Royal Albert Hall Examples

The colour palette is stripped back to a signature red, supported by black. Nothing competes for attention.

What stands out is the intentional use of every element. Everything is set up to give space to what matters, so the focus stays on the artists, the programme and the overall experience.

A simple idea, clearly expressed, rooted in heritage, brought clearly into the present.

Focus on the feeling you want to create.

Calm. Inspired. Reassured. Excited. Confident. Supported.

2. Now look at your visual identity
Your website, social media, emails,
or anywhere your brand exists.

– Is it creating those feelings?
– Where is it working well?
– Where could it be clearer?

Hello and welcome to the first issue of Creative Momentum

This is our bi-monthly ideas share, a place to pause, notice, and reflect on the things shaping the work we’re seeing and creating.

Lately, everything feels loud. Marketing especially. More content, more tools, more pressure to say more, faster.

Which is why this month’s theme is clarity, and how cutting through the noise helps the right people pay attention. 👀

What's caught our attention...

How brands are cutting through

Right now, the work that’s really working is doing two simple things well.

It’s clear and it’s human.

Because honestly, it’s pretty noisy out there. All the AI content has turned the volume up even more, and marketing can feel overwhelming fast.

We are seeing a shift to the kind of work that leaves us feeling calmer and more connected, rather than dazed and confused.

Which makes it slightly ironic that one of the pieces that really stood out to us this month…

…was a ChatGPT ad 😱

Here’s why:

The recent Road Trip ad from OpenAI brings clarity and humaness 
together beautifully. 

The story is simple and easy to follow. The music adds warmth and familiarity that gently pulls you in. You’re not overwhelmed with information or big promises. You’re shown, quietly, how this could fit into real life.

You come away thinking, yeah… that could actually help.

Whatever you think of ChatGPT, it’s hard to deny how clear and human that campaign feels, and how much it respects the viewer’s attention.

What’s inspired us...

Here’s what sparked our creativity this month.​

I’ve been listening to the audiobook Essentialism, and a few ideas really stuck with me

Essentialism isn’t a design book, but I couldn’t help relating it back to design and communication, especially how clarity affects how people feel.

Essentialism book

Here are the thoughts I keep coming back to.

1. Trade-offs matter
Clarity often comes down to deciding what you’re willing to go big on. When everything is important, nothing really is. Choosing one thing to lead gives the rest room to support it.

2. Stress kills decision-making
When people feel under pressure, decision-making gets harder. Messaging that’s thoughtful and considered creates the kind of calm where choices feel easy.

3. Learn when to stop
There’s a pull to keep pushing an idea just because time’s already been spent on it. Letting go can create space for what actually wants to work.

4. Make things better by taking things away
The idea of “kill your darlings” came up a lot. An essentialist believes improvement often comes from removal. In design, that’s where space, focus, and clarity tend to appear.

It left me thinking:

Clarity is a form of care
and respect.

Top Tips

Three questions to bring more clarity to your comms

Here’s a small exercise for you.

Take a piece of your marketing. Put yourself in your ideal client’s shoes and ask:

1. What is it?
Can they quickly understand what you’re offering?

2. Does it make sense?
Is the message landing without effort or re-reading?

3. How do I feel?
Calm, curious, reassured… or a little overwhelmed?

When the answers are clear, the work usually is too.

Be clear and your business  will thank you. That is all. 💛
